To use or not to use? That is the question. How do you know if a resource described as "Cherokee" is legitimate and acceptable to use in your homeschool? It's not always easy to decide so today I'm sharing a flow chart I put together to help educators and homeschool families decide if they should use a resource described as "Cherokee". I hope it's helpful.

*Authentic Cherokee = enrolled in one of the three federally recognized Cherokee tribes

  • Cherokee Nation

  • United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians

  • Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians

**There are only three legitimate Cherokee tribes but over 200 groups throughout the United States who fraudulently describe themselves as "Cherokee tribes." Please use caution when deciding which resources to use when educating your children.
